The Perfect Woman eBook Jesse Abundis Reviews
Enjoyed the pacing and dynamic characters.
Good book. The title is a little misleading in my opinion, but it was a good work of macabre twists and turns.
It had a good story with twists and turns. I was annoyed with some misspelled words along the way.
The tale opens up with a daughter-mother conversation. Everything seems so perfect and innocent. But that first chapter ends with a smack; the reply the love-struck woman gets from the old lady on the subway jolts you and sets the tone for the rest of the book.
The characters are wonderfully flawed. In one section, the author even states that there are no heroes or villains, just people trying to get by. Even the police officers wrestle with the demons they have summoned from exposure to the worst humanity has to offer. The crude and explicit dialog paints how people talk in decayed urban settings.
This is not a procedural tale; it is not about police detectives solving a crime. The protagonists are disenfranchised youths that chase crime scenes for fun. The plot lines splinter, develop, and come together in a pitched finale that won’t disappoint.
I’ll mention that even though the language and formatting is imperfect, it did not detract from the tale. The prose has a cadence commensurate with crime thrillers. Slang and urban jargon are usually distorted and imperfect anyways, so in this capacity, you could chose to view it as a dose of authenticity, as I did.
Just wow. Wont spoiled the ending but wow
The plot of this book is great. It's a murder mystery suspense with more than its share of gratuitous gore. The characters are all well-developed all straddling the line between good, evil and downright deranged.
The one huge flaw with this book is that it appears to have been proofread by a non-English speaker. There are hundreds of tense and agreement errors that make it difficult to read without the voice in your head sounding like Gollum. There are also frequent miswords such as attention for intention. A few mistakes are forgivable in a book but there are so many errors in this it hugely interferes with the enjoyment of the book, sometimes tearing you out of tense parts of the story to figure out what word the author meant to use.
Overall it's a good read but I'd recommend running it through spelling and grammar cherck first.
